TSE 24: Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka, we proved what had only been theorised: modern footwear weakens feet, while natural, unrestricted feet remain strong.

Studying over 1,000 adults, we saw the same truth repeated — wide, stable, pain-free feet in those who grew up barefoot, and weakened, narrowed, dysfunctional feet in those shaped by modern shoes.

TSE 26: SOUTH AFRICA

In 2026, we take the Shoe Effect to South Africa. This groundbreaking study will compare city dwellers, rural communities, farmers, and even hunter-gatherers — revealing how lifestyle and footwear shape health inside and out. Together with Dr Ludidi, we will explore not only movement, but also digestion and overall function.

This has never been done before. The results are designed to help millions — and to influence health-conscious companies around the world. By proving, again and again, how modern footwear and lifestyle choices affect human function, this research will push brands, practitioners, and leaders to rethink the way they design, teach, and promote health.

PLANNING UNDERWAY

The Shoe Effect South Africa is now in its planning phase. Our team is preparing the logistics, building partnerships, and setting the foundation for a study of this scale.

To make it possible, we are opening the door to investors and collaborators who share our vision. This is an opportunity to be part of research that will shape the future of health, movement, and footwear worldwide.

Stay tuned as we share updates from the road ahead — and if you want to support, invest, or be directly involved, contact us below to register your interest.

What Can Hunter-Gatherers Teach Us About Health?

In 2026, the Shoe Effect heads to South Africa — and we’re asking a big question: how does modern life change the human body?

We’ll compare foot function and health across city dwellers, rural communities, farmers, and even hunter-gatherers. Together with Dr Ludidi, we’ll explore not just movement, but also digestion, daily habits, and how lifestyle shapes us from the inside out.

It’s a study that’s never been done before. One designed to help millions understand health more deeply — and to create knowledge that outlives us.
